Intensive Treatment Model
The 12 week intensive therapy model is gaining momentum across the world and becoming the gold standard. It has been well studied that children with cerebral palsy and other neurological disorders require the following for optimal outcomes and mobility:
-
- Physical therapy to include high dose, frequency and intensity of specific activity training.
- Early identification to when bracing is needed. Light Physical Therapy has an office next to Alchemy Orthotics and Prosthetics, both entities work together to foster a comprehensive rehabilitation approach.
How Do I Know If Physical Therapy is Working?
Objective outcome measures track progress vs. natural growth and development. Specific objective outcome measures have been studied to determine if the treatment plan is working or not. This allows us to make adjustments to treatment quickly and effectively to meet your child’s goals faster. You will not wonder if the treatment is really working at Light Physical Therapy, Julie will test and re-test outcome measures showing you real objective results!
Because children reach their mobility goals faster with 12 week intensive physical therapy, they then can use their newfound strength and range of motion in their daily activities to continue strengthening and mastering more goals on their own.
When physical therapy drags on for a year there is no pressure on the therapist, parent or child to objectively reassess the plan of care to ensure therapy is being optimized by making changes to the plan to ensure the child meets their goals in a timely manner.
*Exception for post surgical candidates, depending on the surgery some may need PT longer to safely return to sports.
